Some say the town formed after the first cranberry bog was dug. Most agree that the town began with the perfection and cultivation of a prized crop. Medicinal, mind you. A cure-all with a smile. Down through the centuries, Bakehurst flourished. Subtly and craftily the town moved the medicinal crop worldwide. By sail or by rail the crop moved, much to the enjoyment of the masses. Through prohibition she reigned Queen. One fateful night the descendant and namesake of the town, Admiral Bakeman, lost a valiant fight with lightning and fire whilst delivering the medicine so in demand. The fire wreckage became the calling card of the town. Even with the setback, the town flourished. From a super-trains arrival to its permanent departure to Victorian resorts, raised, celebrated, and razed, Bakehurst continues on with a grin.
